Abstract:
The article reports on chat-based virtual reference services during the 2007 Annual Convention of the Alabama Library Association (ALLA). Librarians from three institutions cite three different implementations. Jennifer McClure explained the difficulties in providing adequate coverage with a stand-alone service. Lori Northrup of Samford University discusses various instant messaging services. Lisa Vardaman described how Troy University uses Live Assistance to provide chat reference at all times.
