Abstract:

The author discusses his experience in using Trillian software to develop the infrastructure needed to provide electronic-based communication service to college students of Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania in 2004. He notes that finding a cost effective software for such project is challenging because of the small population in the university. He decided to use instant messaging technology to facilitate electronic communication between student and librarians. He and his colleagues decided to use Trillian, a chat client software created by Cerulean Studios, because of its ability to support instant messaging-based communication through AIM, MSN Messenger and Yahoo! Messenger.
