Abstract:
This article focuses on the KnowItNow24x7 live Internet reference service for the residents of Ohio funded through the State Library of Ohio with a federal Library Services and Technology Act. The beginning of Live Web reference in 2000 is discussed. The statewide program is a result of the collaboration of three libraries that were sponsors of regional virtual reference programs. The evolution of the program as it covered the state is discussed. Communication among more than 50 participating libraries and librarian recruitment is considered. Software, training, marketing, program evaluation and the future of the program are mentioned.
