Abstract:
The author discusses his experience in adopting new tools for improving the electronic based information resource system of New York-based Stony Brook University Health Sciences Library in 2006. Collaborative web tools, including wikis, instant messaging and social networking sites, have improved the reference services and staff intranet system of the library. He recommended the use of multiclient instant messaging platform Trillian after conducting a series of researches on virtual reference services.
