Abstract:
The article offers information on virtual reference services (VRS). Web-based library reference services transformed as important alternatives to the traditional face-to-face or telephone reference encounter. Synchronous and asynchronous VRS increased in number and became common features of both public and academic library home pages. Majority of VRS were initially supported by grant money. However, support are declining for many and sustainability is becoming a critical issue.
