Abstract:

The article focuses on outreach strategies at the University of Rhode Island Libraries. Instead of luring students in, librarians are reaching outward to faculty and students. The library has reached out to distance learners by enrolling a librarian as a teaching assistant for online classes. The library itself offers a course titled "Introduction to Information Literacy." The library had limited success with sophisticated simultaneous web searching software, and is currently working on a library blog.
